Andrew Phillipson
Andrew Phillipson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip, knee and other lower limb musculo-skeletal disorders.
His areas of expertise include meniscal (cartilage) and ligament problems of the knee, as well as the assessment of hip and other lower limb disorders. He is highly skilled at arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and runs training courses on these techniques for junior surgeons; he is on the Royal College of Surgeons of England Faculty for Arthroscopic Skills Training. He also specialises in joint reconstruction and replacement of the knee & hip, either following trauma or degenerative disease.
He is particularly interested in the management of sports injuries (either acute or chronic) aiming to enable the athlete to resume training and competition in the shortest possible time.
Mark Webb
Mark Webb is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon who specialises in shoulder, elbow and hand/wrist disorders. He is based at the Countess of Chester and Grosvenor hospital Chester.
His areas of expertise are: arthroscopic/keyhole surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist; shoulder and elbow arthroplasty; joint replacement; and trauma/ sports/industrial injuries to the upper limb. He routinely treats amateur and professional athletes (particularly contact sport professionals) including rugby, mountain bikers and kayakers.
He has been involved in setting up the Chester Hand, Elbow & Shoulder service (C.H E.S.S). This collaboration with local surgeons and therapists is helping to advance knowledge and co-operation in the treatment of patients in the Chester region with these associated conditions.
He is a faculty member and co-founder of the nationally recognized Core skills course in shoulder arthroscopy. He is actively involved in research and is routinely involved in the teaching/training of aspiring shoulder and elbow surgeons.
Physiotherapist team
The Chester Sports Injury Clinic also has a highly experienced and professional physiotherapy department that is led by Nuffield Proactive Health. Each physiotherapist is highly trained and provides specific sports rehabilitation.
